A peek at our busy week

As the acorns and leaves are disappearing off the trees until next year,
so are the leave and acorn sugar cookies from our kitchen.

When the pumpkin patches come back next year,
so will our pumpkin sugar cookies.

Pecan, Apple, and pumpkin pies.
Our fabulous pie crust recipe has been passed down
from generations. My lips has been sworn to secrecy.
Pumpkin bars with cream cheese icing
so moist and yummy!!!

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin muffins.

As a child growing up a neighbor Mrs. Pottest
use to bake this pumpkin bread for us. Now it's
a favorite at ICING

This is one of my favorite serving dishes the
pumpkin bread is on.
China painting is hard to find these days. There isn't many artist around
maybe because it takes lots of love and patience for the art. Today's life style
everyone is looking for quick and easy.
I'm blessed to have a china painter in my family. Joyce is so talented,
I'm proud to say she's my sister.
I'm sure many of you have talented family members also.
blessings

Aunt Hilda's Apple Slices

Apple slices are one of my favorites for this time of year. Not only because they taste wonderful alone or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, but the fond memories.

(sorry the photo doesn't do them justice)
As a child, I remember walking into grandma's house smelling the aroma of fresh baked apples and cinnamon. The recipe is my grandma's sister Hilda very own recipe. During one of my visits with my grandma , she gave the actual handwritten recipe to me. Joyce being the big sister she is had someone frame the recipe to protect the fray edges. After my grandma passed away years ago, I gave the frame recipe to my mom for her to have as a keepsake.
As I write this post the wonderful memories are adding a smile to my face. It seems like yesterday , I was sitting by my grandma's side waiting patiently for the pan of apple slices to come out of the oven and cool off just enough to take my first bite, but not before Grandma would surprise me with a scoop of ice cream on top.

Do you have any fond kitchen memories?

Have a nice weekend!

Warmly,
Jeannie

Navy, Red White & Blue Wedding

This past weekend we were honored to be asked to make the wedding and groom's cake for Brittany and Derek. Their theme and color choice was red, white and blue, because Derek is in the Navy.

His cake was our famous chocolate fudge cake, with chocolate buttercream icing. Decorated with an edible image of the Navy seal and yellow cord trim, surrounded with milk chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate shavings.

The Bride 's cake was a three tier traditional white cake with butter cream icing. Decorated with polka dots and scroll work. Brittany requested the red, white and blue silk flowers as her tier topper and that a flag made out of fondant to be draped over her cake.

The wedding was decorated by the talented Donna Knight.
She carried throughout the church
and reception the red, white and blue colors.

Thank you Donna for sending some of your photos from the wedding.
I realized I forgot the flash and was unable to take more photos.
Congratulations Brittany and Derek, we wish you a lifetime of happiness. A BIG thank you Derek for serving our country. Many blessings to you both!

Confectionately yours,

Jeannie
